Using Rich Pins with Squarespace

Rich Pins are Pinterest Pins that include extra information, like a product price and your site title.

After connecting your Pinterest account to Squarespace, Pins of images from your products and blog posts will automatically be Rich Pins. If you have a Pinterest business account, you may also see increased distribution of your Rich Pins across Pinterest.

What displays in a Rich Pin

On an individual pin, Rich Pins of your content display:

• Image
• Price (for products only)
• Blog post title or product name
• Pinterest username, avatar, and Follow button
• Blog post or product description
• URL of the blog post or product 

On a Pinterest board, Rich Pins display:

• Image
• Site title
• Blog post title or product name
• URL of the blog post or product (on hover)

Rich Pins and Pinterest business accounts

If you’re using Pinterest as part of your business, you can sign up for a free Pinterest business profile. Business accounts are different from personal accounts, meaning you can have separate accounts for each.

Using Rich Pins as part of a Pinterest business account can help your pins reach a wider audience. If you consistently create Pins from your domain, Pinterest will increase the distribution of your Pins across users’ home feed, search, and related Pins. You can track your reach with Pinterest Analytics, which is available in all Pinterest business accounts.

Validate a domain for Pinterest

To enable Rich Pins for your site, Pinterest needs to validate your domain. This happens automatically when you connect to your Pinterest account to Squarespace.

Check if your domain is validated

You can double check your validation on Pinterest:

1. Log into your Pinterest account and click your profile name in the top-right corner.
2. Look for a globe symbol next to your domain name.
3. Hover over the globe symbol. If the message says “This website has been claimed,” Pinterest has validated your domain and your site is enabled for Rich Pins.

Fix an unvalidated domain

If you don’t see a globe symbol next to your domain, use the following steps to validate it:

Tip: If you recently added a custom domain or changed your primary domain, follow these steps to re-validate your domain.

1. In your Squarespace site, remove any site-wide passwords or page passwords. You can re-add them after your site is validated.
2. In the Home Menu, click Settings, and then click Connected Accounts.
3. Click your Pinterest account.
4. Click Disconnect, and then click Confirm.
5. Refresh the page, then follow the steps to reconnect your Pinterest account.
6. Return to Pinterest and check your profile settings.

If you still don’t see a validation message, contact Pinterest for more help.

Troubleshoot content that isn't saving to Pinterest

If you can’t save a particular post or product on Pinterest, try validating that specific URL:

1. Visit your site while logged out or in an incognito window.
2. Open the blog post or product details page you want to generate as a Rich Pin.
3. From the browser address bar, copy the URL. Ensure the URL is for a specific post or product, not the collection landing page.
4. In a new browser tab, go to Pinterest's Rich Pins Validator.
5. Paste the URL into the Enter a valid URL field.
6. Click Validate.
7. A confirmation message will appear.
8. Some domains require an extra step. If you're prompted to, check HTML Tags, and then click Apply.
